Olmsted Falls swim team member gives thumbs up

Frequently Asked Questions

The team is open for any child aged 4 through 18 that is a resident of Olmsted Falls or Olmsted Township. You do not need to live in the Falls Pointe neighborhood to participate. In fact, many of our team members come from Woodgate Farms and other neighborhoods in the Olmsted area.

If space on the team is an issue, priority is given first to those children who have previously been part of the team, followed by residents of Falls Pointe.

Practices are held at the Falls Pointe club house and pool, inside the Falls Pointe neighborhood. Home meets are held there as well. Away meets are in the area, as close as Berea and as far as Medina.
The 2017 season starts at the very end of May (right after Olmsted Falls schools let out for the summer) and ends by the third week of July.
For swimmers age 10 and under, practices run from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday.

For swimmers 11 and up, practices are Monday through Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. (With a coach’s permission, older kids can join the 8-9 a.m. practice.)

On Mondays and Wednesdays, kids may chose to attend an evening practice in addition to or instead of the morning practice. Evening practices are for all ages and run from 5 to 6 p.m.

Meets are generally held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:15 p.m. (Swimmers must be at the pool by approximately 5:15 p.m. to warm up.) There are a few Saturday meets as well. For more information, see our schedule.
Fees vary depending on whether or not you are a resident of the Falls Pointe neighborhood.

For the 2016 season, for Falls Pointe residents with association dues paid and in good standing with Western Reserve Property Management, the fees are $100 for 1 child, $200 for 2 children, and $250 for 3 or more children.

For other residents of Olmsted Falls or Township, fees are $125 for 1 child, $250 for 2 children, and $300 for 3 or more children.

These fees includes all practices, team events, meets, and a team T-shirt. They do not include the team swimsuit or other optional accessories such as the swim cap, sweatshirt, etc.

Checks can be made out to “Falls Pointe Swim Team.”

Children are asked to attend as many practices as possible, and priority in meets will be given to those who have better attendance.

Parents are asked not to stay inside the pool area during practice, as we find it distracts the swimmers. You are welcome to stay near the clubhouse area, but are not required to. Certified lifeguards are on duty for all practices and meets.

While a team bathing suit is not required, it is recommended. Your child may also wish to have a swim cap, team sweatshirt, and team bag. All of these are optional. Your child will also receive a team t-shirt when fully registered.

We recommend that your child bring a towel and water bottle to each practice. For meets, two towels, a lawn chair, sunglasses, and sunscreen are recommended. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase at most meets, but you are also welcome to bring your own.

First, don’t worry! Lots of our swim parents are new to the sport when their child first becomes a Piranha. We’ll provide you a parents’ handbook that gives you all the information you need about how meets work, what to expect, what to bring, and how to help your child develop a love of learning.
